Dhīraśaṅkarābharaṇam
धीरशङ्कराभरणम्
The Carnatic major scale and one of the most performed melas. Where the Western ear hears a plain major, the Carnatic treatment fills it with gamaka, so that no two phrases sit on a swara in the same way.

Points of practice
Gamaka, not scale
Sung straight, this becomes a Western major scale; the gamaka is the rāga.
N3 in descent
Kākali niṣāda approached from the upper Sa is the phrase to master.
Contrast Harikāmbhoji
Alternate the two melas in practice to fix the niṣāda in the ear.
