Brand Identity
How Sangeetshala looks and sounds
The identity is built from three things: a tanpura drawn in one line, a cream ground the colour of old manuscript paper, and type that keeps classical weight without turning ornamental. This page is the reference for anyone making something on our behalf — posters, certificates, recital programmes or social posts.
The Mark
A single stroke traces the neck and gourd of a tanpura, with one bead resting on the string. It works on cream, on navy, and at 24px as a favicon; nothing else is added to it.
Palette
Two navies, two golds, two creams — no more. Gold is an accent, never a field for text; the deep gold is the accessible variant for links and labels on cream.
Typography
Playfair Display carries the headings, EB Garamond the reading, Cormorant Garamond italic the bandish and quotations, and Jost every label, button and item of navigation.
In Indic scripts the matching Noto Serif family replaces EB Garamond and Playfair Display; keep Jost for Roman labels only, and never set Devanagari in a sans-serif at small sizes.
Voice & Tone
We write the way a good teacher speaks: precise about the tradition, unhurried, and never mystical for effect.
Exact, not exotic
Name the thāṭ, the tāl, the mātrā count. Diacritics are used correctly or not at all — rāga, not raaga.
Warm, not promotional
Invite; do not sell. No exclamation marks, no superlatives, no urgency devices.
Two scripts, one voice
Devanagari and Roman sit side by side as equals, in that order, with the same weight of attention.
Using the Identity
Do
Keep clear space around the mark equal to the height of its tanpura gourd.
Set the mark in gold-dark on cream, or in gold on navy — nothing else.
Let the page breathe: cream ground, generous margins, one accent per view.
Write Devanagari and Roman together wherever a rāga or bandish is named.
Do not
Do not stretch, rotate, outline or add a shadow to the mark.
Do not place the mark on a photograph without a solid navy or cream field behind it.
Do not set body copy in Temple Gold or in Playfair Display.
Do not introduce a second accent colour, gradient or emoji into brand material.
