Śuddha Sārang
Bright and glancing — the noon light of the Sārang family.
A Sārang that takes both Madhyams: tīvra Ma in ascent and śuddha Ma in descent, with śuddha Ni. Ga is omitted, which gives the rāga its clean, open midday character.

الصعود والنزول والبكَد
Notation key — komal swaras in lower case, tīvra Ma written M′, mandra saptak marked ˌ and tār saptak with ′.
كيف تتحرّك الراغا
Re and Pa carry the rāga. The two Madhyams must be kept in their places — tīvra rising, śuddha falling — and the descent through Dha is brief and glancing rather than dwelt upon.

X = sam · 0 = khālī · 2, 3, 4 = tālī · one cell = one mātrā · – = sustain.
The mukhḍā rises to tīvra Ma before the sam. Practise it slowly against the drone so the two Madhyams stay distinct at speed.
