Toḍī
Plaintive and deeply expressive — the great morning rāga of longing.
Toḍī carries three komal swaras and tīvra Ma, a combination found nowhere else. Its emotional range is wide, and it is considered among the most demanding rāgas to hold in tune.

रागस्य गतिः
Komal Ga and komal Dha carry a delicate oscillation; tīvra Ma is the axis between them. Pa is used sparingly and often skipped, which gives the rāga its characteristic wide, aching intervals.

One of the best-known Toḍī compositions. Practise the sthāyī against a tanpura tuned to Pa and check komal Ga carefully — it drifts sharp under speed.
